Courage to Change It takes a deep commitment to honesty to open the door to the "one-person" cage. The "cage" is part of a temporary "cancelation of consciousness" that locks us in, forcing us to embrace an imaginary world. But once out, we can know certain things that make us better and stronger than any of those who have just been outside, since we survived a major test, including a big jolt back to life, and they did not. In the real world, the free world outside the cage, there is always a source of help greater than ourselves that we can call upon and now is the time to make that call. We need that "wind at our back" or helpful person giving directions, to help push us through our day in a productive way and we need to connect with that source right now in a very deep manner. Perhaps this "help-source" may seem like an illusion, but it is not an illusion unless we make that illusion. We know that we need society and need an audience to help us change and even make us change, like the great performer does on the stage or on TV. At TVI, we have that way, that edge to get this process started. We have our unique way. We have "bottled courage" to take the place of bottled drugs. We have a way to get that audience, one small step at a time. And with each step we have a way to get back, a way to be remembered for something good, not rotten, not distasteful, not a joke, but something real. To change for the better, we must both "act the acts of change" and "speak the words of change" over and over until things improve. We also need to activate the "help-source" function, as best we can, in all others we meet. "Do good to all you meet" is the "door opener" that is most guaranteed to call upon that "help-source". It speaks its language. It's also one quality that spills forth in waves throughout every area of our interaction within our small society at TVI and one that helps build our relationships with others outside our environment. We call upon that "good-to-others" power and ability to make a substantial change and improvement in our lives and others' lives every day. Our small audience first allows us to look at ourselves, to share our discoveries minute-by-minute with others, to admit that we need a real and touchable push to move forward and free ourselves, beginning by making amends for past wrongs by doing something useful, right here and right now. We need to "do now", to "speak and see right today", in order to begin to fix what went wrong from before. With our Telecommuting Training, the recovery process begins this way. We begin by giving and taking and moving on down the path to "making it" again. This takes people. This takes the right people, the right words, the right setting and the right action. Through this method we bounce ourselves back into shape and let society do some of the action to help get us there. We can't and don't operate in the dark. We have to get on the society-train and let it take us to the place we want to go like the performer. We have to be remembered into existance. We need our audience. Win the crowd, one person at a time. And we have a way. At Telecommuting Visions Institute, we truly have that way. We have that way to make a very strong comeback -- more so, we believe, than anyone else. We have a way to review our attitudes and be appreciated each hour of each day. We have a way that allows us to be functional enough to reach out to others as equals, minute by minute, day by day, and continue to grow in every area of our lives. Where do I find the courage to push myself before an audience? How do I have the crowd bathe me in their criticism or praise? I do this with one person, one time. I fool one person into accepting me as worthy one time, in one way, then move on to do the next one quickly, before I've lost my momentum from the first. The courage to change the things we can, is found in our continuously-developing relationships. Win the crowd, one person at a time. This is how things are done in society anyhow. Win the crowd and you will win yourself. It is the greatest gift you will ever receive. Our Telecommuting Program has worked successfully for men and women from every kind of background. We have a way to step-by-step capture the world's respect without meeting someone face-to-face and still receive the kind of helpful talk that society gives us freely. We bring people into our lives in a favorable way by serving "directory assistance", writing summaries of local news, helping take "free classified ads" and learning other "Telecommuting" functions. This means we communicate by TV, computer or telephone. If you can look and listen, you can do this. If you can talk, draw or write it's even better. For most people, the first day they communicate this way, they will be praised for their work and people will be glad to have met them. Often, before people came to TVI, many of them had tried to control their physical, mental or substance challenge on their own and, only after repeated unsuccessful efforts at so-called self control, finally admitted that on their own they were powerless over their situation. At first, they could not imagine life without their burden. They certainly did not want to admit that they could not overcome their own life challenges. But, with the help of other members, they learned that they did not have to live an "outcast lifestyle". They discovered that life without substance escape not only was possible, but could be happy, deeply rewarding and here today. |
