Telecommuting Environment

The primary therapeutic relationship at TVI begins between the person and the group as a whole, rather than between the person and some individual therapist. In this environment everyone gives and receives real help, substantial help that actually works. A clean, upbeat, functional and substance-free environment is a crucial part of our Telecommuting Program. The primary responsibility for recovery is viewed as being held by each individual participant as he or she connects with society through telecommuting, rather than with the program or program staff. Individual responsibility is reinforced and shared decisionmaking, on a step-by-step basis, is optimized, at first with program participants, and then with societal interaction over the Internet and through Internet Integrated Telephone. We have a program that works. We have a program that has been hailed as a modern miracle. And we have miraculous people to help run it, to volunteer for it and to support it.

Participants in our Telecommuting Program begin their training with a one-on-one relationship with mentors who themselves have recovered self control and dealt successfully with their own challenge.  They are not "professionals" in the classic sense of the word, but peers who understand the challenges of recovery from personal experience.  Every mentor has recovered utilizing our Telecommuting Program.  From the beginning, participants are treated with the respect and dignity that is earned by a good friend.  Participants are placed in charge of their own recovery. They remain responsible for their own decisions.  But all are provided the opportunity, our wonderful and unique opportunity, to heal themselves using our method. But the willingness to complete our Telecommuting Program must come from each participant.
