Positive Education At TVI, our Telecommuting Program is a recovery plan based upon group-cultivated spiritual strength and societal feedback. Selflessness and cultivating an audience is chosen as a primary first step rather than psychological therapy, although psychological supervision and assistance is present and available. The educational program teaches the participant how to assess the seriousness of their challenge, along with its effect on others, and demonstrates for participants a means to surmount that challenge while interacting on a "level playing field", no matter how severe their challenges. From this non-illusional viewpoint they are able to determine how committed they are to their own permanent recovery. Through interacting effectively in wider circles, participants are taught exactly how to achieve recovery, get illusion-free and substance-free and how to stay that way. Our Telecommuting Program teaches our participants a method of finding positive interaction with society and how to obtain favorable feedback from an audience, one person at a time. Our Program does not promote any concept of God, but rather supports any participant that chooses to see God acting through society to help people on their paths in life. The Internet and special equipment have proved to be indispensable parts of our Telecommuting Recovery Environment. The Internet, where people can communicate and receive feedback regardless of handicap, can help provide a safe lifeline back to society. Our Telecommuting educational experience is an entirely different approach from the more common counseling and therapeutic approaches. Our method is remarkably simple. Participants are taught how to recover using a program that they know has worked for many others. They know the method works because their mentor sitting next to them used the very same method. Our method includes four separate phases: Phase One is a two week course that provides a preliminary understanding of physical, mental and substance challenges and a specific individualized strategy to overcome those challenges and receive favorable feedback for one's small successes along the path to recovery. Phase Two in four weeks puts into action the techniques learned in Phase One and the effects of an actual independent audience are fully felt by the participant, for better or for worse. Internet is successfully employed in this process. Phase Three in four weeks provides training for setting and achieving individualized and expanded goals and implementing these as accomplished in Phase Two. Phase Four is a year long experience putting into everyday living all that was learned during the ten week program. Phase Four marks the beginning of our outside jobs as motivated, productive employees. Virtually all of our former guests return to our Telecommuting Program to visit, because they want to pass on the message that "this works" to the newcomer who is just beginning in the program. |
