Success through Telecommuting Give someone hungry a fish and they can eat for a day, but teach someone to fish and they can eat for a lifetime. Considering this, some believe that for hard-working people in need, the Internet could be today's best rod and reel. Less than three months after completing TVI's program Bill started his own business selling wholesale hand-painted furniture over the Internet. After falling from a ladder some 15 years ago and becoming dependent upon both pain killers and alcohol, Bill had spent about 10 years on public assistance in San Bernadino and Los Angeles counties. He had tried at least "two recovery programs, job retraining and the whole 9 yards. It didn't work", Bill said. "None was really practical, because I couldn't make the money I needed to really survive. TVI showed me something that actually worked -- where I could use my skills as a painter and artist in a new way". In follow up conversations more than a year after Bill's completion at TVI, he was still successfully engaged in his business enterprise. Marilyn, who suffers from Parkinson's Syndrome, also completed TVI's program and soon became a partner in a childrens' wear Internet business, that is also cable television related. Marilyn loved to talk and had a great talent at dealing with kids. "You can't imagine the amount of motivation I got from the people at TVI. Even after I left the program, the people there never left me. They continued to help me work things out with my partner and get organized." "I could tell you that TVI concentrates on the things that are the most important to those they help, and that's what makes all the difference to a person with challenges. Now I've become useful again. I do something that I enjoy, rather than just put myself through lessons that gave money to a school or something". Marilyn was successfully engaged in her partnership at the time of her year-end follow up. Following TVI training, Frank found a job at a medical equipment leasing firm after not working continuously for more than 15 years, disabled from a car accident, drug, alcohol and tobacco abuse. "I was in pretty bad shape physically, mentally and spiritually. No one serious would hire me before I came to TVI. But TVI showed me I still had some good left in me. I liked the medical field -- that is I liked to talk to doctors -- especially in a way that we could have mutual respect. TVI must have known that, because it was partly their ideas that got me this job. They inspired me, suggested it and I went for it and got the job." Frank was promoted by the medical leasing company and engaged in supervising other employees at the time of his year-end follow up. "I found that what TVI taught me was directly related to my condition and my getting well. I could easily keep my mind on what they said and then do something with it once I finished the program. Now I'm in my last year of college." Sincerely Kyle. "After going through the TVI program of recovery and job-getting help, I stayed in touch with at least 4 other people that went through the same program I did. I know that with any program there should be some lucky people who do real well -- but at TVI its not some, but most, judging from what I saw. Everyone I saw had a way to put their talents to use into some nice kind of a job. They are working now and the Program's what really did it for them. I'm really glad you guys are there to turn lives and my life around." Sincerely Shondra. |
